About Me: Because that’s what this page is called, right? I’m supposed to write a little something about myself? Hmmm…. when I think about describing myself, all I can think of is – mom. But I’ve gotta do better than that! So I’ll start by saying this:

My name is Shalynn Brothers and I’m a 31 year old Target obsessed, Starbucks addicted, boy mom (recently turned BOTH mom) living my life long dream, thanks to my amazing husband!
When you’re a child, you get told time and time again that you can be anything you want to be when you grow up. Some children dream of being firefighters, doctors, or policeman. While others might dream of being actresses or ballerinas. Me? The only thing I was ever 100% certain I wanted to be when I grew up was a wife and mama. A stay-at-home mama, ideally – and that’s exactly what I am!
I’m sure I’ll head back to work someday to help my husband support our family. But for now, I’m soaking up the privilege of raising our three beautiful babies at home and witnessing every single milestone along the way!
My husband’s name is Aaron Brothers (yes, like the store – no relation). We started dating in June of 2013, said “I do” in June of 2015, closed escrow on our charming little fixer upper in October of 2015. We have three beautiful babies earth side, Gannon Beau (4 yrs. old), Ledger Luke (2 yrs. old), and Bentley Chevelle (3 months) + one sweet angel in heaven that we miscarried in August of 2018.
I’m a San Diego girl born and raised with a heart for small town country livin’. Aaron and I share a dream of raising our family on a nice-sized chunk of land in a lovely little town with a friendly family oriented community. Which is why we bought our home in Ramona, CA – and boy do we love it here! San Diego doesn’t exactly scream “small town country livin’,” but Ramona is about the closest you’ll get without leaving all the perks of this sunny city behind you.
I’m a bit of a helicopter mom, aspiring to be a “cool mom.” Just navigating my way through motherhood one dirty diaper at a time.
About The Blog: Being The Brothers was an idea born shortly after my son. An idea that I had spinning around in my head for months on end but never had the guts to act on – until now!
I’ve made so many mama friends through Instagram over the course of the last year and a half, it’s so uplifting and inspiring to be a part of such a huge mommy community. Watching other moms take a shot at what they love, whether it be vlogging, blogging, photog-ing (sorry, that was a super lame joke.), or whatever else makes their heart smile…. got me thinking, why not me? Why not take a stab at this blogger mom thing and see if it really does make my heart smile like I think it can.
So with that said, I’d like to thank you! Because there’s a good chance that maybe you are one of the social media mama’s that I like to consider a dear friend and inspiration. Thank you for giving me that nudge I needed.
And if that’s not you, I’d still like to thank you! Because just you being here right now, taking the time to read this, is everything to me. You’re the bomb!
Anyyyyways, I’ll stop gushing and get back to where I was going with this….
As a regular human (ya know, BC – life before children), I’ve always had a passion for documenting my life mostly in photos or journals. But as a MOM, take that passion and times it by FIFTY! Hoooooly camera mom!
Being The Brothers is a place where I hope to share my little growing family and our not so little journey. But it’s not just about me and my family…. it’s also about you!
Ya see, when I was pregnant with Gannon, I was pretty naive about some of the challenges that came along with pregnancy and motherhood. And like most first-time-mamas, I scoured the internet for answers to all my questions to better prepare myself for the life changing events to come. If I can be the person on the other end, a mama friend you can relate to, giving some clarity, some tips, or even just a simple product review to help someone else out? Then that’s pretty darn cool if you ask me!
I’m not saying I have motherhood all figured out. Because believe me when I tell you, I most certainly do not have it all figured out. Who even does, really?
I’m just here to document my life as a wife and stay-at-home mom, share some unfiltered opinions, point you in the direction of a few awesome baby/mama products, and if there’s an easy peasy recipe, a fun DIY tutorial, or a crazy home improvement project to share along the way? Then that’s all good with me! I hope you don’t mind.
